Mixed media on raw canvas with gold leaf
107 x 120 cm (42.1 × 47.2 inches)
The Body Keeps the Score explores generational trauma through the figures of an elder mother and a child. Their crowns symbolize inheritance: the mother’s gilded crown reflects sacrifice and survival, while the child’s colorless crown represents innocence and uncertainty. Their intertwined forms capture the balance between love, trauma, and the shaping of the child’s future.
An inscription, cd45ra < cd45ro, references immune memory, linking unresolved trauma to chronic immune activation and autoimmune disorders. This scientific layer underscores how the body internalizes emotional pain, making it an enduring part of the self.
The mother’s deep purple form embodies wisdom and burden, while the child’s earthy tones suggest rooted potential. A vibrant palette reflects struggle, survival, and transformation, offering a path toward healing. This piece invites reflection on the burdens we carry, the legacies we shape, and the possibility of breaking cycles.
Delivery details will be sent privately to each buyer.
